I get asked this about strategic partners a lot:
“How do I get in front of them?”
There’s the online answer. Build email lists. Run ads. Post on LinkedIn. “Be everywhere!”
Then there’s the real answer, step by step:
Show up in person where they are also showing up in person
Stand in front of them
Introduce yourself and ask them questions
The side effect of doing this? Next time you’re sitting with fingers poised over the keyboard, you’ll have something to talk about and a real connection to nurture.
If there is anyone you’re dying to meet, LinkedIn comments can work. But they work a lot better after shaking hands with someone in person.
Invest in showing up.
