rewriting ad copy in your head
Neville Medhora runs a 1-person business and makes more than a million bucks a year. Pretty cool.
This isn't a 'how he does it' kind of email. You can see how here --> $1M Business With 0 Employees “The Simple Solopreneur”
But wait, before you click that there's an exercise he mentions in that video that has been super helpful to me, thought I'd share.
It's something copywriter Eddie Schleyner talks about too. It starts by noticing things.
Here it is:
Read ads or website copy or article headlines
Rewrite them in your head
That's it. Think about "How could I make that better?"
It's fun. It's helpful. And it's applicable to so many parts of business.
For example, I started looking at the community bulletin board in town (the old school, paper slips stapled to a wooden board kind).
Want to sell puppies? Sometimes "Puppies For Sale" is all you need.
Want to sell goats, though? "Goats for Sale" doesn't work as well, because buying a goat isn't something everyone thinks about at some point. But if you live on acreage and groan at mowing the lawn every week, "Cut Your Mowing Time in Half. Buy a Goat." hits different.
That's fun and all. But making it a part of the work week is a bit different. Here are things I'm paying more attention to and rewriting in my head:
LinkedIn posts
Competitor's home pages
Cold emails in my inbox
It helps looking at other peoples' stuff because spending too much time navel gazing gets you nowhere.
What parts of your business do you want to improve? And what other sources of inspiration (good or bad) can you start noticing to help you make them better?
Ciao ciao,

PS: Fun fact about navel gazing. It's a spiritual thing.
