preach what you practice
These messages are a mix of lived experience and wishful thinking.
There’s nothing in here that I or my teammates don’t do. To degrees.
There are some things — like prioritization techniques — that I don’t practice as much as I wish I did.
Or others that — like getting feedback on home page copy — I’ve done 90% of the work, but stalled on the last 10% even though I know the changes will help.
It’s important to preach what we practice.
It’s true in emails, website copy, consulting advice, and more.
So don’t sell what you don’t know, can’t deliver, or simply won’t do. Is that $100M Offer legit? Is past performance indicative of future results? Can you support that promised outcome?
You may be thinking: but what if I’m new to something?
It’s amazing how much grace and latitude buyers give when they trust you. Deliver on small things and they’ll trust you with more and bigger things.
Preach what you practice and know to be true.
Then keep practising what you preach. That way it gets better and better until you’re the only one who can make such big claims.
Preach,
Peter
