if you don't ask, you don't get
"What's your schedule like today? Do you have 10 minutes to record a quick conversation? It'll be easy and we can do it with my phone."
Diane, an internet friend I met in person at a conference last week, asked Wes Bush for an interview. Wes is very well known in my corner of the internet. He's authored several books on product-led growth. SaaS marketers often know him and reference his work.
Anyway, Diane asked Wes for an interview. Before that moment, she hadn't met him in person either. He said yes.
I smiled at Diane and said "Well done!"
"One of my mottos is 'if you don't ask, you don't get.' So I asked"
Later that day, I took a walk to get outside and find a few moments of quiet before going back onto the conference floor. It occurred to me that I don't ask for enough.
Ask for a sale.
Ask for a better deal.
Ask for guests on videos.
I can do a better job of asking for what we need and want for the business. I often don't ask because I don't want to be a pain or an inconvenience or unfair. But when I do ask for things, rarely does the other person respond with anything other than a polite response.
So, I'm working on asking.
Here's an ask of you: Who do you know that would enjoy these emails? Will you forward this to them?
