being ruthless
It’s easy to let things slip when there isn’t much on the line. But when you own a business or a team — if you’re a boss or leader in some way — being ruthless is the only way to operate.
Working on getting in shape? Maybe you walk the last bit of that 5k run. Who cares? Nobody.
Taking a company from 0-1? Maybe you let teammates build whatever they want or try any growth tactic that sounds cool. Who cares? Everyone on the payroll who joined up believing in you. Investors. Spouses. You.
Decision-making in business has to be ruthlessly focused on what’s good for the business. Not because the people and the customers don’t matter.
Exactly because they do and the only way to continue adding value to their lives is to stay in business.
