allowing for shiny objects
Simple thing today: a colleague and I spend too much time looking for cool new apps to use.
My excuse is that new tools can give us an edge. The reality is that I just like new toys. Who doesn't?
All that signing up and tinkering can be is a time sink. Here's how we give ourselves room to play without getting bogged down by shiny objects:
--> We have a #tools channel in Slack where we drop links and sometimes a little explanation of what we found.
It doesn't prevent us from looking at new toys, but it keeps it out of everyone else's way and we get to play a bit before going back to work.
To shiny objects,
Peter
PS: An added bonus. Having a list of tools has been helpful as a reference when we really need to find a good app for a real problem.
